Alexander Zaslavsky

Alexander leads the company’s global research agenda and advises Fortune 500 clients on the political and commercial dynamics that shape international energy markets.

He focuses on energy politics in Russia, the Caspian, and Central Asia, leveraging more than two decades of on-the-ground experience and a robust network of senior government and industry contacts. His counsel spans state-owned energy companies, sanctions and counter-sanctions regimes, and regulatory frameworks governing upstream and transportation projects.

Prior to Horizon Engage, Alexander served as Head of Research at Eurasia Group in New York and worked in corporate finance at SBC Warburg in London.

He is the author of Power, Personalities and Political Risk: Inside Russia’s Oil and Gas Industry (Euromoney Books) and speaks frequently on global energy politics at industry forums and academic institutions.

He holds a PhD in International Relations and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, both from the University of Oxford.
